As you may have seen, we "appear" to have gained a large number of members over the past couple of months, sadly a large number have been bots (as this version of the forum software doesn't have a CAPTCHA). To attempt to combat this, I've had to enable the email verification as a means of (at least) slowing down the load of bots.

Long term, I do plan to either get the forum upgraded to a newer version, but for the moment this should help. As a side-effect (or a bug I've not noticed until now) registering on the main AnimePenguin.net page as a new user seems to not correctly create a forum account. If you're affected by this, please email me and I'll attempt to get you account fixed. I hope to have this fixed up soon.

Due to the high volume of bots that the email verification has caught, I've invested some time to add a captcha to the user registration page.

I've briefly tested it, and it seems to work. If you notice any bugs on the site due to the update, please let me know.


Hopefully today, I should be able to update the beta site with the new user stuff I've been working on over the past 3 months.
