Welcome to the new frontpage news for the main animepenguin site. This thread has been setup so that Jamezterr, Zuz or Myself can quickly update the frontpage of the main site with news at any time. Any feedback about any issues raised in this forum section can be placed in the new sub-forum (where everyone has the normal forum permissions to post/edit and stuff.) Fingers crossed this works, as this is the test run  Edit: As an additional test, here's a youtube video of the new Bleach starting, Enjoy.

G'day all, Progress on the new site is coming along well, and things are starting to take shape. Recently Zuz has been working on some design stuff and has made some nice headways. (If you ask him nicely he might show you a teaser or 2...) Anyway, going back to a topic way back, people were asking about having games on the site. What I'm now gonna ask is, do we have anyone here that can/is willing to make some small Flash or SilverLight games, can be anything you like (although if it has a seasonal element, like X-mas...  ), please let us know (either pm myself or make a post in the User-feedback section, many thanks.) Stay tune for more updates...

Hi again, I've just done a small update to the beta site, you can now (when logged in) add a new anime to the site. Currently no one has been set as an 'editor' so any additions you make will be saved but not visible (haven't finished that part yet, lol). People can start to add new anime on, for now, can you make a quick post in the forum what Anime you've added so I can keep track of how well the system is working. Just to let you know, the summary section has a rather large word limit, and you're welcome to use it (BBcode is/should be enabled), (I'm working on fixing the text boxes size as I type this too ) Any bugs, problems please let me know in the user feedback section. PS. I've added in fate/Stay night as the 1st new test

Hi again all, Since there's been no news for a week or so, I thought that it'd be good to at least post something. We've now created a separate theme section so that (once made) people can select what theme they'd like to see on the main site (currently we've hidden the new one since it's a surprise one ) but we will make it available as soon as penguin goes live. In other news, Zuz showed me a great vid which I think helps keep this thread 'fresh'. Enjoy

Hi all, Just a warning to let you know that the forum may be down for a short period tomorrow night. I am working on a emergency mod to allow threads and posts to be 'un-deleted'. Browsing the database I have found a few threads that seem to have been removed for un-known reasons. To all Mods/Admins, until this fix is done, if you have a case for deleting any person's threads/posts please PM before hand letting me know what thread/post and why. To all general users, if you wish to delete a thread or message of your own, please refrain from doing this until further notice, or alternatively PM me and I'll sort it out. Thanks. Skip

Evening all, Not much to show on the main animePenguin site, but more work is currently being done even as I type this post. If you haven't seen the new AnimePenguin Theme on the forum, then please take a look, it's been designed & coloured by Zuz, so please let him know what you think and give him your feedback. Not much else to say this week, but I thought I'd better post another vid to keep the post 'interesting', it's an AMV of Air with the song Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls, if you've not seen Air then I highly recommend you do, it is one of the saddest anime I've seen to date, well worth watching.

Jamezterr's Forum is 1 year old today. And what a year it's been. After a few domain moves, changing from phpbb2 to 3 then to YAF, we've not taken the easiest route, but it's been fun. I was hoping that today I could announce the launch of the main penguin site, but sadly (and some of you may have noticed by my lack of being on msn this last 2 months) that I haven't had any computer access at home. (Brothers + End of term = no computer for me  ) I do hope to be getting more work done over the xmas break so that this time next month (or earlier if lucky) I can show you all the main site working ready to go. I'm sorry that we couldn't celebrate the launch of penguin with the forums b'day, but hopefully it'll all work out for the best. So stick around and fingers crossed there will be a main site soon...

A Happy New Year to everyone, hope the Xmas-New Year period was a good (and safe) one for you all. With a new year comes new hopes and new things, one new thing is the birth of AnimePenguin. In my spare time (which is not much at the moment again ) I'm working hard to get AP up and ready (although Zuz is forcing me to take the odd break to try out FlyFF again... 4500+ files to update... lols). Anyway, I'm currently reviewing the Beta work that's been shown online, making modifications based on people's feedback and rebuilding some parts. I don't normally tend to do this, but I'm gonna pencil in the date of Sunday the 1st of Feb for AnimePenguin's Release. Of course this relies on me having some spare time, so don't shoot me if it's a week or two later Anyway, here's a Bleach AMV, enjoys.

G'day to you all Sorry for the lack of news, I do plan that there will be at least some news posted once a week (I just took a look and noticed it's almost been 3 weeks since the last... whoops!) Anyway, onto the news I've recently been working away in preparation for the going live of the main site, to make life nice and simple, the main site (and any other parts that get plugged in in the future, like the forums ) will contain one username and password (same as the current beta site does, but way better). To do this, I plan to push the main site release back a week but implement the new login feature this weekend and see how well it works with the forum for a week. In case for any reason when the new login is setup (and I'll put a post up before and after I do) and you have any trouble trying to login (or anything else for that matter) please, please send an email to admin [at] animepenguin.net or send me a message via MSN and let me know. Many thanks to everyone for being patient, fingers crossed not much longer to go. PS. I have to thank HardSuit for introducing me to RideBack, if you've not seen it, it's worth taking a look (and I soooooooo want one) See here for HardSuit's post

G'day all, Hope you're all having a good Valentine's Day (unless your single, in which case hope your having a good day) Today (for the first time in ages....) I've been able to put my foot down and do a good amount of work on AP. If all works out (and I don't get distracted) I hope to launch a new version of the beta site later this weekend. Assuming all goes well with the beta, and depending on feedback from people, I plan to launch the first version of the full AnimePenguin website (at last ) You may have noticed a few new sections added to the forum, titled 'Penguin Bugs'. If you come across any bugs/errors or things that you don't feel work as you expected, please note them down there. Just create a new thread for each new bug with any info you can think of to help us out. Many thanks for any you do find and let us know about. Hi all, The Beta II @ http://beta.animepenguin.net is now up and running, so come take a look, see what you think (and find any bugs ) Just a quick note, the Silverlight sig test seems to not work (at least not on my machine tonight ) Anyway enjoy, Skip Edit: Silverlight Sig test is now working again, I forgot a database bit and there was a security setting I needed.. whoops Enjoy

Good Evening all, As some of you may have seen by a post I made on Tuesday, sadly the memory stick I was building AnimePenguin on decided to die on me and take most of my Beta II work with it. Currently I'm in the process of putting the pieces back together using a back up I took last month. (So my nugget of info for the month is back up your memory sticks at least weekly, and don't be silly like I was....) Anyway, soon as I get the website code back into shape I'll continue bug fixing and adding new features, one of the new features will be a twitter feed for the site so people can get regular updates about site progress + see when new reviews, news and anime are added (and any random posts from a select bunch of people, yet to be decided). Evening peoples, So some good news time I think. First, I have recovered all the work that made Beta II possible (with the only exception being the Silverlight signature but that was just a raw test anyway) and I've now started to go through and fix a few bugs that Applicable has very kindly found and reported (many many thanks appy. ) Secondly, I've started to plug in the Beta II.2 site to use that really well talked about web application, twitter. It will now post a small update everytime a new user joins us and (currently only admins have access to this) selected people can post a quick tweet on the official (that kinda sounds weird for a small beta site to have an 'official' anything... lol) twitter for AnimePenguin. If you use twitter, make sure you add AnimePenguinWeb to you following list The Beta II.2 will hopefully go up towards then end of this week/middle of next week (depending on my spare time, and if my mother doesn't kill me for as yet not finding her a Mother's Day Gift for this Sunday... *gulp*) Anyway keep an eye on AP, we're starting to make some good progress and fingers crossed we'll soon go Live with the main site. Thanks again for all your patience in this (rather long) development of Jamezterr's Forum/AnimePenguin. Oh and here's a Lucky Star Amv, since it's been awhile since I posted a vid in this section

Hi all, Sadly last few weeks have been busier at home than I'd hoped and I've got nowhere near as much done to AP as I wanted (namely having it as a live site by this month)... Anyway I'm working hard on it when I can. I'm determined to get at least the Beta 2.1 up and tested this weekend, so please don't be too startled if you see the site not working on Sunday (5th April). During this time I also plan to also remove the www.profile.animepenguin.net (since that broke on the last update and I have no source code to try and fix it, as it was on my usb stick when it died). Depending on time (and testing) I will also link up the main penguin profile with the forum one, but I'll post more if I do plan to do that this weekend. Just been browsing Jamezterr's channel on youtube, saw this opening on it (I'm sure he's posted the vid before on here, but anyway... lol) looks good, I hope to see some review about this soon from him

Hi all, Sorry for the delay in a Penguin News update. Time is once again getting away from me, and so the planned updates to the site have been longer (and less) than I'd been planning. I am currently in the process of getting some extra help to get the site setup into a 'usable' state so that we can start to get both larger community presence and a nice collection of Anime recorded onto the site. At the moment, if anyone is up for giving up some time to assist the site, please let me know. All skills are welcome, especially in the design of stylesheets, graphics, colours or even ideas on improvements or new features. Due to the fact I will be out of the country from the 22nd of May for a week, it is highly unlikely there will be any updates til after my return. (If anything happens sooner than it will hopefully be a nice surprise, for both you and me... lol) In the mean time, (as per recent tradition) here's a Youtube clip... New Bleach Opening (ok its 4 weeks old now...)

Hi all again, Brief bit of news, been trying out the upgrade of YAF (Yet Another Forum) and after a bit of poking about I am starting to think I should be able to 'plug in' Penguin to the new forum (saving a small amount of work I had planned later). My aim is to test this out with a backup copy of the current forum on a separate machine at home, and if all goes well I might be able to do an upgrade this week before I jet off (if there's a risk of it breaking the forum then I'll postpone it til after I return) More news as it comes...

Hi all, Not much to report this week, I've been trying to do some penguin this past week but due to me feeling a little 'under the weather' and other personal things (which I currently can't talk about yet, due to their very nature) not much has been done. Since I have this weekend off (and I am most definitely having this Sunday off from work #2...) I'll be planning on uploading the very much overdue updates promised for the main site. Depending on my time this week I may also get a chance to update the forum to the new YAF version (which would be a nice thing.) I'd post a youtube vid, but as I'm about to go to sleep, I'll let Jamezterr, Zuz or (the newest Admin person) Applicable do that If you're on Twitter, don't forget to think about following us (AnimePenguinWeb) as Appy has been doing a good job on the WWW (Weekly Wednesday Weet) Skip.

Hi all, A nice news update, this coming Friday Evening (aprox 2000 GMT, 2100 BST) I will be attempting to upgrade the database software that runs both AnimePenguin's Main site and the Forums. During this both sites will be unavailable, I currently can't give an estimate of how long I expect the forum will be down for but I will keep people up to date via the sites twitter feed (which will also be displayed on the "Out of order" page I'll load onto the site during the upgrade) If all this goes well, I'll also see what other upgrades and fixes I can apply to the site over this weekend (since I've got this weekend off woot!) Normally I'd put an anime vid here, but I only saw this today and since Global Agenda is soon going into closed Beta, I had to share this here Enjoys,

Hi all, After a delay of an hour, I finally got to upgrade the database (and update windows). Fingers crossed you shouldn't notice any real changes bar a slight speed increase and the fact the search should now work.... (Edit: Ok, it now has a different error message, bah!) Next stop, I plan to update the Beta site with the things I have been working on the past few weeks/months. Depending on a few factors, I will also attempt to upgrade the forums to the new version of YAF (which hopefully means the search might work at long last.. lol) I've not seen this yet, but I'm tempted to buy the dvd after seeing it on sale, anyone seen it? Anime Openning: This Ugly Yet Beautiful World.
